What could possibly motivate the present owner-operators of this globe to allow planetary life-support systems to degrade into a state of toxic shock? The death-throes of nature intensify, yet the fatally destructive human operations causing this continue unabated on all levels, as if this was not happening, and as if this unfortunate state of affairs had nothing to do with human life. We must ask ourselves if those powerful and secretive men at the helm of this sinking ship...have therefore genuinely lost their minds.

AURORA ALERT: A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetosphere between 0730 and 0800 UT (3:30 am and 4:00 am EDT) on Friday, April 13th. The impact sparked a strong geomagnetic storm, which is slowly subsiding.

If you're an aurora-enthusiast and you missed Friday morning's show, don't worry -- another CME is on the way. The expanding cloud, hurled into space by an X2-class solar flare on April 12th, could arrive late Friday or (more likely) Saturday and spark a new round of intense geomagnetic activity. Sky watchers located at geomagnetic latitudes higher than ~50 degrees should remain alert for Northern Lights.

Sun takes another solar shot, this time at Earth

An angry Sun fired off another powerful X-class flare Tuesday. X-class flares are the most powerful classification, and this flare, rated X-2, was the most recent in a series that included one of the most powerful solar blasts in 25 years.

An eruption of electrified gas, called a Coronal Mass Ejection, or CME, was observed shortly after Tuesday's flare, and it is heading our way. Depending on the orientation of the magnetic field carried by the CME cloud, it may cause a magnetic storm when it impacts the Earth's own magnetic field.
